About the role
The Project Accounting Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing accounting activities related to the project side of our business. This includes managing day-to-day project accounting operations and contributing to strategic financial planning across our diverse portfolio of projects. This is a full-time, in office position.

In this role, you will manage your own projects while leading and mentoring a team of project accountants and staff. You will oversee the monthly financial performance of projects companywide. In addition, you will manage the maintenance of projects including overall project structure, funding set up, revenue and billing set up, billing rates, at-risk set ups, etc.

What your day-to-day will look like
  • Ensure month-end project accounting tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Serve as a key business partner to the Operations team, providing financial insights and support on project-related matters.
  • Independently analyze and review job costs, cash flow, billings, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Lead monthly project recap meetings.
  • Ensure projects are forecasted accurately and maintained in a positive cash flow position.
  • Contribute to defining and improving key financial processes to ensure speed and accuracy.
  • Develop and mentor team members, fostering growth, continuous learning, and strong future leadership.
  • Ensure internal and external partners receive exceptional financial value-added service by creating and executing key deliverables.
  • Model effective risk management and safety practices, ensuring these standards are upheld across all project accounting activities.

What we're looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
  • 7+ years of commensurate experience. CPA and/or experience in construction or adjacent industries is a plus.
  • Exceptional leadership and team building skills.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply accounting standards and regulations, agreements, contractual terms, policies, and procedures. 
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to effectively present to internal and external audiences.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite and other industry/company related programs. Experience in Viewpoint is strongly preferred.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
